Today we celebrate our resolve to build a prosperous Nation where no one will be oppressed, taking to heart the oath of brotherhood while striving to live in peace and harmony. This year’s independence is a testament that we can bury what seeks to divide us and pay great attention to that which unites us.

Nigeria is a great Nation, and we must not give our detractors the chance to justify their negativity about our dear country. We may not be where we wished for, but we can’t stop aspiring.

The journey to a prosperous Nigeria starts with each of us deciding to do the right thing even when it is discomforting.
